A window squeegee pulls water off glass in one continuous stroke, leaving the pane dry and streak-free. It is the core tool of traditional window cleaning, and the only part that wears: the rubber blade is a consumable and is replaced far more often than the channel it sits in.
What to buy and when to replace it

35cm is the standard working width for most residential and commercial panes.
Replace the rubber when it starts leaving fine lines behind the stroke — typically well before the channel shows any wear.
Washer sleeves wet and agitate the pane before the squeegee pass; they must match the squeegee width.
A 15 litre bucket is sized to take a 35cm sleeve without folding it.

For glass above about three storeys, a squeegee on a telescopic pole reaches the limit of what can be controlled by hand. Beyond that, a water-fed pole and pure water replaces the squeegee entirely.

For professional and commercial crews the consumables matter more than the handle: the rubber and the sleeve wear out, the channel does not. Window washer equipment — the microfibre applicator and its replaceable sleeve — wets and agitates the pane so a single squeegee pass comes off clean, and the sleeve must match the squeegee width. Trade buyers ordering for a team should add spare 71cm rubbers and 35cm sleeves to the same order.
